Our Legacy: Decades of Passion & Conservation

Dimbwiii Safaris was born from a deep-rooted history in the East African safari sector. Our story began in 1994 with Morani Poyoni’s pioneering Cultural Tourism Program (CTP). What started as a desire to make a meaningful impact has grown into a lifelong commitment to the region.
Driven by an unwavering spirit and a dedication to conservation, we aim to inspire a new generation of adventurers. Today, as one of Tanzania’s premier safari operators, we stand ready to introduce you to the breathtaking landscapes, vibrant cultures, and majestic wildlife of East Africa.

Founder of Dimbwiii Safaris

Our Legacy: Decades of Passion & Conservation

Born and raised in the highlands of Monduli Juu, my life has been an apprenticeship with nature. I began my journey at fourteen as a Maasai cultural guide, eventually transitioning from the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) to leading expeditions for world-class operators like Gundua Adventure.

Over a decade in the field, my upbringing has evolved into a deep-seated mission: to serve as a lifelong guardian of Tanzania’s wildlife and a bridge between ancient heritage and modern conservation.

The "Dimbwiii" Philosophy

In Swahili, Dimbwi means a pool or pond. In the wild, a pond is a refugia—a vital lifeline that sustains the ecosystem when all other water vanishes.

Dimbwiii (with a phonetic "iii") represents two core pillars:

  • The Lifeline: Like a permanent pool in the dry season, we are a source of support for both the natural world and our guests.

  • The Ripple Effect: The "iii" mimics the sound of a drop hitting deep water. It is a reminder that a single intentional act—one "plink"—creates ripples that can transform the entire world.

Why Safari With Us?

We offer more than a drive through the park; we offer an immersion. Our guiding style is gentle, intellect-driven, and deeply rooted in the land.

  • Heritage: An authentic Maasai perspective on conservation and the rhythm of the bush.

  • Expertise: A decade of professional experience in East African flora, fauna, and ecology.

  • Spirit: A commitment to the "Life on the Pond," ensuring every guest leaves with a soul-deep connection to the wild.

Morani Poyoni

TOUR COORDINATOR

In 1994, Morani Poyoni established a company initially known as the Monduli Juu Cultural Tourism Program (MCTP), aimed at connecting guests with authentic cultural experiences in Monduli Juu. The name 'Morani' translates to 'warrior'. The company's vision focuses on creating unique and inspiring experiences that include low-impact activities such as hiking, trekking, and bird watching.

Maria

Maria

TOUR CONSULTANT

Maria's profound connection to the outdoors and her adventurous spirit originated from an extraordinary experience in Africa, where she observed a magnificent leopard in a tree under the warm light of sunset. This encounter deepened her appreciation for Africa’s rich wilderness and its diverse ecosystems as well as the local population. To further her passion, Maria co-founded Leo Safari, a company focused on providing photo safaris in Tanzania. Partnering with Dimbwiii Safaris, Leo Safari creates distinctive experiences that not only showcase Africa’s wildlife but also foster an immersive engagement with local cultures.
