Ol Doinyo Lengai

Rising more than 2,000 meters above sea level, Ol Doinyo Lengai, also known as "The Mountain of God" in Maasai, is an active volcano in northern Tanzania. This volcano produces the world's sole natrocarbonatite lava and the coldest lava, which has a temperature of about 550°C. Situated in the Great Rift Valley, the top offers a stunning panoramic view of Lake Natron, which is extremely saline and alkaline, as well as the volcanic formations of the Ngorongoro region. Millions of birds call this seemingly hostile, extremely small lake home.
